What You Need to Know About Lake County Home Inspections
I just came back from a home inspection, so I thought I’d share a few things you need to know with you today.
1. Should you have a home inspection? Absolutely! During a home inspection, you’ll learn more about that property than you would in 10 years of owning it. You will spend two to three hours with your inspector going over everything from the roof to the foundation. The most important thing is you will learn of any safety issues with the property.
2. What’s covered during the home inspection? If you buy with us, we give you a booklet called The Home Buyer’s Toolkit. This booklet will tell you exactly what to expect from a home inspection. As we mentioned before, your inspector will check all the main systems in the home, from the roof to the foundation, so you know exactly what you’re getting into.
3. What’s the advantage of getting a home inspection? When you do get a home inspection, make sure you use a licensed professional. You want to work with someone who is doing 5 to 10 inspections a week. Once you get a report, you can use that during your attorney review and get money off for certain items. If the home inspector is not licensed, you will not be able to do that.
4. How much does a home inspection cost? Home inspections typically run from $200 to $500, depending on the size of the home. It’s a small investment for the knowledge you gain, and it’s completely worthwhile.
Ultimately, I recommend that all buyers get a home inspection. If you have any questions, give me a call or send me an email. I would be happy to help you!
